THE NAME

Wakansu comes from the Wolof language, the Senegalese dialect, and means “vacation”.Each creation is inspired by “wakansu memories”, everything that can be felt and seen while growing up in Senegal: fabrics that told stories, bold and joyful colors, landscapes that leave a mark, and above all, the people. They could turn the simplest piece of cloth into something stylish, simply by the way they wore it.

OUR MISSION

Founded in 2024, Wakansu was born long before the first design was ever sketched. It began in childhood, under the sun of Senegal, where I had the privilege of growing up. There, even ordinary days felt like holidays.
I remember watching the people laughing loudly and playing football barefoot in the sand, feeling the sun heavy on my skin, then sitting quietly as the sun melted into the waves. And I remember thinking:
"I wish the whole world could feel this way."
Wakansu is that wish turned into a brand. A way to share the feeling Africa gave me, just as she once shared it with me. Through pieces that feel effortless, carry meaning, and bring a little more joy to everyday life. Wakansu isn’t just about what you wear, but how you choose to live.

THE VISION

Sharing Heritage:
Every piece is a story inspired by the richness of Africa: Through color, fabric, quality and emotion, Wakansu celebrates where it comes from and shares our heart with the world. It’s about honoring the past while esigning for the new generation.

Build Community:
Wakansu is more than a brand, it’s a community.
A space where people can connect, no matter where they come from, by ringing a part of their story. We believe in the power of sharing who we are to build something meaningful together!

Human Driven:
It’s all about changing the way we experience everyday life. We’re driven by the desire to bring more light, and presence into people’s daily routines. A quick reminder that life doesn’t have to wait for a special occasion it can feel like a holiday, every single day.
